Blender AVI to MPEG converter.. free?!

I wasn’t sure where I should post this, so I thought I’d start here. Once you’ve stopped laughing, I was hoping to find a AVI to MPEG converter on the internet for free. Has anyone found one that would be willing to point me to?! I have tried tons of searches and have been to a bunch of sites that let you download for free, even have a trail version, but all of them put a big icon through the middle of the video with “TRIAL VERSION” :-? or something like that. If I have to break down and buy a version I will, with some recommendations!! Thanks all!!

I use is the demo version of im-too mpeg encoder, on the trial version you can only do 5 min. But most things you make on blender are less than that, you encode and decode 22 different formats including mpeg2, mpeg4, wmv, wma, ogg and avi. The only problem is that sometimes the sound and video are out of sync.

oh yea the website is http://www.imtoo.com

In that 5mins, does it place a banner on the video that it is a trial version, or is it a clean transfer?!

the problem with free mpeg encoders or decoders is that the standard is patented and the owners of the patent want royalties on its use, per copy of software.

So, arguably, even open source products must pay…

well anyway, the tsunami mpeg encoder has a trial, and bbMPEG is also available

personally though I have paid for software to encode to mpeg… [or it was bundled with hardware of mine]

I use VideoMach, which is completely free and utterly unrestricted for non-comercial use.

Do a goggle for QuEnc…

http://www.tmpgenc.net/
Free version for personal, non-commercial or internal business use.

tmpgenc plus for commercial use.
Been on the go for years and very stable.

When I installed Video Match it said it was a 15 day evaluation version.

Want to convert free, no problem, I use this peace of software a long time now, works for me!!

Have a nice convert! %|

I really like virtual dub. The only problem is that it doesn’t save MPEG files. You’ll have to get a codec for that. But other than that it’s a great program

Actually I have VirtualDub! But I’ve been having trouble getting it to see new codecs. That’s why I was looking for another program. If someone could point me to a MPEG codec that works with VirtualDub that would be great. I tried to load ffdshow codec and I can’t get VirtualDub to see it.
