Hi,
I’m sharing this rigging workflow from my character creation course, Where we will learn, how to rig a character including hair, clothing ( no physics ) and accessary.
This is just a one chapter from the course, If you wish to learn full character creation, it will be available soon.
You can check out the playlist ( ongoing )

But why rigify?
It is blender’s default addon ( need to enable from preferences ). It comes with advance rig system such as switchable IK/FK, stretchable arms/legs and so on, which would have take so much time to create manually. We will also have custom bones/controllers for hair, clothing, accessories with proper RIG UI, using rigify’s advance option.
As mentioned, it is a full series on character rigging so there will be a lot of parts with well structured videos and each parts will covered specific topic,
So we will go step by step process:
- Setting up, Rigify’s base bone structure
- Adding extra bones for hair, clothing and accessories
- Adding extra bones to new bone layers and creating custom rig UI
- Generating rig, assigning color sets to new controllers
- Assigning extra controllers to custom UI
- Fixing newly generated rig.
- Weight painting ( include timelapse )
- Transfer weight from one mesh to other, to speed up the process
NOTE: I’m not a professional rigger nor I’m saying this is the correct way to rig a character. This is just a way i do which works for me. If you really wish to learn rigging, there are some course, specific for the rigging which guide through basic to advance level rigging.
Thank You
