Blender crashes out when opening file browser "Desktop"

Hey, so I’ve always had an issue while working on Blender. Each time I needed to open its file browser to save, modify projects, or load images or textures by clicking a route, thus being Desktop, it took a few seconds to load, even charging up the freeze program screen but eventually did.

Today, I opened it and couldn’t even load an image texture from my computer because it froze on its own and couldn’t access the files.

It always happens when I go to the desktop route.

I’ve been trying to search for information on this topic since 2021 but never seem to find a similar case, I don’t know what it may be, language issues or what.

If anyone has had this issue and knows something related I’d be very thankful as it slows my workflow.

Version of OS (of course windows… i see that… but which one…) and blender; download source; installation method… all the info needed so that maybe someone might have an idea… because: does work here since 2.49… doesn’t help you…

You may have to elaborate this to get a more suited answer. (Like for example errrorlog ??)

One possibility: some (window) users had difficulties with network directories… (?)

Hey, thanks for asking, sure:

  • Windows 10 Pro 22H2
  • Blender new update 4.3.2
How do I get an errorlog?

And this issue always happens (regardless on the W version nor Blender) when trying to save or access files from the browser on the Desktop route? Is there any way I can reset this route for it to clean any issues?

See also Docs-Blender Manual: Crash … especially a the end: commandline options.

Create a new account in Windows or activate a guest account to proceed with the same process.

It could be a Windows security issue, there might be a problem with your account, and I don’t know exactly.
