Blender Ex Machina

Hi all:

This is part of a personal project I am working in. And it is also my first machine!!! I’ve done it by using “parents”, “tracks to” and “copy locations”. It is true that the system is not very stable (sometimes you get undesirable rotations). But anyway, it seems to work fine.

I’ve seen a machine tutorial that uses bones (with an old version of Blender). Can you comment on this? Are bones still necessary in Blender 2.46? Or just optional?

Thanks in advance!!!

it always depends what you are doing. if animating objects or empties work for you, then stick with that. bones give you possibility to use action editor, that might come in handy sometimes, especially if you want to do several different type of actions, and combine them together in nla.
i personally like working in action editor much more than with ipos.

but, whatever works for you. this seems to work.
