Blender For Sale!

i was playing around when i came up with this
http://img65.imageshack.us/img65/6173/blenderforsalesj9.png
any comments suggestions on how to make it better

the picture you used for the screen seems odd, try converting the image to jpg (if it isnt already) before using it. Also, the blender logo doesnt look right, also, i would change “High Speed 6 speed”. I love the concept though

The actuall Blender symbol could be improved. It looks like a kid drew it in five seconds.

The image on the moniter looks like 4-bit color mode (16 different colors). Other than that, improve the look on the text; 3D text made in Blender would be good; Maybe make the whole scene one large Blender scene, and have the moniter reflect the text and everything.

Also, include Yafray and Python in some fine print at the bottom, along with the download size for each.

The moniter looks like it’s in a dark room sorrounded by light… In other words the moniter isn’t shaded at all. Make it dark grey instead of black, ald use specular. Also increase the poly-count on the moniter so it looks more realistic.

If you don’t do 3D text, at least use AA on the text next time and use GIMP instead of MS paint (Forgive me if it is not MS Paint or any other equivilent program. I just say what it looks like.)

I was going to be the first to reply, but it looks like someone beat me.

it’s not the fact that it’s jpg or PNG that makes it look odd, it’s the color resolution, and that won’t change if it’s converted to jpg.

This is a proper Blender symbol:

Notice the top “Arm,” is pointing up, the seccond is pointing straight, and the bottom one is pointing down.

alright, because whenever I use a bmp for a texture, it always comes out terrible, so I have to convert it

BMP aren’t very good at all, don’t know why. Just use JPG, or if you want to go to the best you can get, use TGA.

Hmm ya looks like its made in MSPaint, maybe use photoshop, or gimp, and man for that monitor rendering, i think u should use more poly’s on it to make it look more smoother and round.

what i would of done my self is done the whole advertisement on blener, the text and all for a lots better look lol

The problem with BMP is that there are many types, each one with a different color resolution. 24-bit BMP is MUCH better than jpg, though much larger.

I suggest using jpg, on the highest possible resolution.

Nivek- Thanx for the feedback
the only problem is what should i change six speed blender to?
Tynach- well i tried 3d
also whats AA?
henrymop- thanx i made it jpg now
Dukenukem155- i did use ms paint ill download photoshop tommorrow
also ill try to model the blender symbol
also it turned out hay i dont know why…
also how do i increase the number of poly,s?

you might want to mention that the scrreen is not included, also a description that its a 3d program…not a kitchen blender…lol

AA is anti-aliasing. It smooths the image. Right now in the Blender render settings it’s called OSA, or over-sampling. I would make it 16 OSA, change the filter type to Cubic, and the filter size all the way up (1.5 I think). This presents you with the smoothest yet sharpest AA I know of in Blender.

Photoshop isn’t a download, it’s several hundred dollars. Use Gimp.

To increase the poly-count on the moniter, re-model it with a higher poly count. If you didn’t model it yourself (like if you got it from a model repository), then model it yourself.

The “High speed, Six speed,” can be kept. It’s part of the joke, it’s supposed to be like an add for the appliance, but it’s actually, “Selling,” the program.

Yes, model the Blender logo and improve your monitor model and you’re all set!

Edit: And don’t forget to change your OSA settings in the Render buttons!

You have a really good concept, and every good idea needs some pollishing. The wording is a bit convoluted, I find myself asking “What Six Speeds is he refering to?”, the features you advertise ought to correspond with the actual product, as well as the gimmick. High Speed, Six Speed is pretty redundant, I’d opp to choose other features you find marketable.

Clarity is key to convincing advertising. This is my pet peve about modern advertising, are they selling busty babes or beer, a better life or burgers? GRRRRRR!

Finally and most importantly, in display typography, treat the text as if it is any other element, use size or color to emphasize the most important aspects and develop a strong composition hierarchy.

Below is an example of what I’d do with your idea. I used the free software Expressions 3.0, which is available somewhere on Microsoft’s website.Unfortunately, Microsoft sells the 4.0 version with no Mac or Linux version, but per licening agreement with Creature House, version 3.0 remains free on both Windows and Macintosh (no Linux, sadly). It is a VERY cool program, originally by Fractal Design the original owners of Painter. E3 is the vector equivilent to Painter, though I used no natural media effects.

Other vector options would include GNU software such as Inkscape.

I won’t comment any further on the other technical aspects since they have already been covered. Though, perhaps a slight reflection would be cool on the floor.

hey thank you for your replys
well heres an update i used osa samples 16 modelled the blender logo but it looks bootleg (fake, doesnt look good)
i added some fine print at the bottom
also im not really trying to sell bleender or advertise its just a joke
i might post it and advertise for real but im not really sure
also i dont see how modelling the lcd screen is going to help
i did modell it using a 3d max tutorial but its meant to be low poly
ill post the picture later today because my connections is too slow

Well, no wonder. 3D Studio Max is meant to low-poly video gaming nowadays. Model it high-poly, improve the Blender logo, and change the OSA filter type to Cubic. Then change the OSA filter size to 1.5. Right now the 16 samples make it look blured, so you change the filter type and size. But keep it on 16.

That will make the fine print easier to read and very nice looking.

Also, the screenshot on the moniter should show your actual scene in Blender. It would look better that way.

Dig the concept - but it is looking a bit “bootlegged”. I’m definitely no pro, so you might disregard these suggestions and I won’t be offended but the perspective on the letters is causing them to become muddled (especially the extra fees bit). Also you might want to add a bit of texture to the lettering or work with them a bit in Gimp to clean them so they have a bit more umph. I’m also a big fan of the phrase “free.99” but it’s your blend amigo and I love it. Fun stuff Arabian Night

The muddling of the letters are due to the bluriness that is caused by Guassian filter instead of Cubic. It’s not the perspective that causes it.

tYNACH IM REALLY LOST WHERE DO I CHANGE IT TO CUBIC?
tHANK YOU ZEROBYTES FOR YOUR SUPPORT
ILL SEE TO IT

First, turn off your caps lock. Then, let me show you a screenshot with highlighted areas for you to shange.

Here:

The two inverted parts of this image are the settings. Change whatever you have in the menu one to Cubic (it’s a drop-down menu, right now mine says Quad, which is quadratic), and the one next to it put the number to 1.5. Make sure you still have 16 samples.

If you need a high quality version of the blender logo, go to this page:
http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/search/?action=1&text=blender
It’s an EPS document, which means you can resize it to whatever you want. There is also a way to import it into blender, but you would have to convert it to a path or something using photoshop or illustrator, you would then have a mesh (or curve) of the blender logo in blender.
