Blender getting started video tutorial 3d view error

Hi guys,

I just started trying to learn blender via video tutorials and I have run into a problem.

I started by watching the interface concept video (located here: http://www.blender.org/education-help/video-tutorials/getting-started/) by Metsys and I found it very useful and easy to follow. Then I moved on to the 3d view port video and i found that his 3d view settings are set up as z and x axis but when I start up blender the default view for me is y and x. This is a problem for me because when I try and load the monkey mesh as he does in the 3d port tutorial it loads the monkey head under the top view instead of the front view like his. It dosent make sense to me, because if his is z,x shouldn’t that be top view, while y,x should be front view? :spin:?

I’m using blender 2.5.2.

so if anyone knows why this is, please let me know.
