Hello,
I am going to participate in this blenderguru.com competition. I made my planet, but I don’t know what I should do rest. Can you guys give some ideas?.
I tried to use the Golden ratio composition.
Future Plan: I am planning to add army space ship which is going to conquer the steel planet.
Your planet is supposed to be a machine planet, yes? Like Unicron from Transformers or a Borg sphere? Right now it’s not really reading as much of anything. What you have will be fine as a base, but the sharp edges make it look very… digital? Sculpted?
Like, if this is planet sized, then that cliff like bit on the right size must be hundreds of kilometers high, straight up, with no panels, weld lines, vents or anything. Intricate detailing tends to sell the “mechanical” nature of mechanical things, and small bits of mechanical detailing convey the sense of scale. So yeah, my advice is to build a few “big” elements (huge pipes, generator looking things, power plants, etc) and then cover the surface in smaller bits of mechanical looking junk (or a texture conveying the same look; obviously don’t kill your polycount trying to model an actual whole planet)
This is more of a design decision but I also think some atmosphere could help sell the enormous planetary scale. It’s a machine planet, so maybe some sickening clouds of purple or green smog? Swathe that baby in the hazy miasma of industry!
