While this is a nice image you should overlook the light and texture on the pen. Take a look at that for a referenc.
Use a HDR for lighting and a more reflective texture for the pen head. Also the pen body could use a better texture. Rest of it is fine.

I’ll work on it. Hopefully get something done to my satisfaction. Got a couple rough sketches so far.
Can we post our pre-production files here? (concepts, models, wires) or just the finished image?
He he, gonna push myself this time, and gonna push Blender internal as much as i can > : D (or cycles, though last time it was crashing all the time, so ill stick with the internal this time) Gonna have a good training in smoke simulator and characters + clothing… It will be hard… xD

This is my entry. My image shows when the crew had to spend months away from their families in the ocean. Something so sad, but important to our history.
That’s without Cycles and Nodes editor!

okay, so I’m a total noob, but thought I’d jump in and give this a try. As Andrew suggested, it was a great learning experience, and there’s much I would have liked to figure out… (darn you, patchy fur distribution! darn you, tricky hand rigging!)
