Subject: Gray Screen on Launch of Blender 4.3.2 (Windows 11, Nvidia RTX 4060 Laptop)
Description: I am experiencing an issue where, upon launching Blender 4.3.2 on my Windows 11 laptop, I encounter a gray screen that prevents the application from displaying the user interface properly. When I resize the window, I can briefly see the interface, but it is overlaid with the gray screen. The problem occurs every time I start Blender, and switching between windowed and fullscreen modes doesn’t resolve it.
Updating Graphics Drivers: I have ensured that I am using the latest Nvidia drivers, but the issue persists. I have also tried rolling back to a previous version of the drivers, which did not help.
Running Blender with Default Settings: I tried launching Blender with the --factory-startup flag to reset all preferences, but the issue remains.
Adjusting Window Draw Method: I explored the Window Draw Method settings in Blender Preferences and tried different options, but the gray screen still appears.
GPU Selection: I confirmed that Blender is using the discrete Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU rather than any integrated graphics (Intel), via the Nvidia Control Panel.
Software OpenGL Mode: I attempted to run Blender using software OpenGL mode by setting the environment variable BLENDER_SOFTWARE_OPENGL=1, but this did not resolve the problem.
Checking for Errors: I launched Blender from the command line, but no error messages were displayed.
Request: Could anyone provide guidance on how to fix this issue? I suspect it might be related to graphics settings or compatibility with the latest Nvidia drivers, but I would appreciate any suggestions or troubleshooting steps that might help resolve this issue.
Additional Information: If you need any further information (such as logs or additional system details), I am happy to provide it.
Is 4.3.2 the first version of blender you have ever used? Or in other words: if you haven’t had this problem in previous versions of Blender, then file a bug report on this.
(And on second thought - file a bug report even if 4.3.2 is your first blender experience.)
The blender has two executable files.
Make sure that both show the same problem.
Run blender using the command promport,
If there is a problem, it will be recorded.
C:\Users\XX\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender
Move the blender version of the folder somewhere else in that path.
This will initialize the blender.
If it’s a problem with the UI, it can be solved.
After that, try to recover the backup files one by one
It seems to me that the problem is with the Gpu or with the driver settings. I’m not sure.
I’ve already tried a lot of ways.: With disabling and enabling, OpenGL and hardware acceleration.
I’ve tried it on different versions of Blender. I installed it from the website and from Steam. Nothing changes.
It is difficult to know the cause of these problems without checking them in person.
I’ve seen similar issues with only gray screens, but most of them seem to have been solved.
Another option is to take a break after the system shuts down to cool down the hardware and check again.
If you think this is a bug, there may be reports of similar issues.
