Blender -> Lightwave

Is there any way to get Blender’s models into Lightwave? Blender’s DXF exporting is funky. I can export to DXF and then load the resulting DXF in Blender, but I can’t load it in any other programs. I have tried Lightwave and some other viewer. All I get is nothing, blankness, no points, no polys.

What is the deal here? I think I have done it before without a problem.

I am using v2.22.

ARRGGG. It turned all of my carful quads into triangles! I guess I am going to just have to learn Lightwave modeler instead of using Blender as a go-between :frowning: I like modeling in Blender :frowning: But I don’t like rendering in Blender

Somebody PLEASE say that there is a better exporter that won’t mutalate my geometry.

first try upgrading to 2.24.
my .dxf export to 3dsmax is fine.

3dsmax hahaha…

the DXF still converts the quads that I so carfuly keep for smoothness and reducing pinching artifcats into messy triangles. I want to stay away from that as much as possible.

Why would I convert to MAX? It has about the same quality built-in rendering sytem as Blender.

With DXF, you can’t export the UVs.
Look this:

I don’t care about the UVs, all I want is the geometry, but it needs to be preserved! No quads -> triangles conversion.

Here is the python export script:

Have fun!! I know I have been :smiley:
