Blender loading slow on startup with Windows Defender full scan in the background

Hello, I’m not sure if this is the right category for this so if a moderator deems it to be in the wrong category, you are free to move it.

Blender was running normally, until I ran a full scan in Windows Defender in the background, now the startup is very slow and sometimes crashes before it gets to the splash screen.

my PC specs are:

Ryzen 5 5700x
RTX 2060 SUPER
128GB DDR4 memory (2133mHZ)
and multiple HDDs and SSDs

I’m using Windows 10 and Blender 4.0.

EDIT: This error is also replicable with the 4.2LTS on steam, and is more prone to crashing

(Also as a very distantly related aside, the forum is telling me that this draft is being edited in another window right now, is this an issue with my computer or the forum?)

That’s right, if you’re running an examination with Windows Defender, your HDD (SSD) will be slow to read and write.
This slows down the execution of the blender.

If you have a serious problem like the one mentioned, there may be a problem with the storage device itself.
Use a free program like Crystal Info to check for abnormalities in your storage device
