Blender problem in windows 10

because i need to use old files, i stick with one version of blender. 2.69
used in windows 7.

when i put it on a windows 10 computer using the same monitor,
the menu text was tiny and everything is much too bright- to the point of being very light indeed.
what do i tweak in settings to get the normal colouring back?
thanks all

This is gamma problem.

Download file and extract in your Blender directory and re-open Blender.

ReShade for Blender.7z (1.2 MB)

no luck yet.
windows 10, c… blender foundation?
where exactly do i copy the extracted files to?
thanks for your help

You know there a are software monitor settings in the BS? Don’t just download something you may even do not understand and then wonder what’s different to a standard installation.
You may copy your local blender settings from one computer to the other see also docs blender manual blender_directory_layout.

Blender directory is Blender’s installation directory. Example: C:\Program Files\Blender etc. Where blender.exe location.

thanks
that is where i put the extracted files.
made no difference

That’s what i meant… downloading any .dll-file and then… the ini file even points to some user you properly don’t have…
Under windows better look at Start → Settings → System → Display …

Then you did wrong.

You can change gamma value in ReShadePreset.ini file.

thanks for your patience!
“You can change gamma value in ReShadePreset.ini file.”
great- where is it and how do i chnge the gamma?
thanks

Look end of the file.

i do not know what to do.
are these the right files?

thanks

Wrong file. Open:

ReShadePreset.ini

gamma = 1.4
all else is 0000
what do i do?
thanks

it wont let me change the value and save the file.
what do i do now?
thanks

Since you discussing this in an other thread:

You use 2.69 under XP and it look different now with windows 7.

  1. copy you settings… so you have the same (see https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/advanced/blender_directory_layout.html)
  2. if the color settings seems to look different in general with other apps too
then look into the setting for th emonitor ther is something like color, brightness, gamma )
accessible via the Start-menu (or any extra one the toolpanel or what ever… depends on the driver of you hardware…)

It also seems that you screenshot shows a dark theme of windows ??? Or is is this a different blender theme ?? (see 1.)

Don’t install software just because someone tells you to until you’ve extensively researched it. Don’t install something just because a forum member uploads a ZIP file and says “this will fix your problem”. This is a malware technique older than the dinosaurs, bad actors on forums have been doing this since the dial-up era.

blender 2.69 was fine on win 7.
now on THIS win 10 it has the bright problem.
It is the SAME monitor. but newer computer has its new video card

works on a cheapo little win10 laptop, but screen is way to small!
thanks
