Blender will not start

Hi all,

I’ve been using Blender for some time and have it running on a high spec desktop pc with no problems. I also have it on a laptop, however, since being burgled recently, I have now lost my laptop and had to replace it. The new laptop should be a higher spec than the old one, yet when I try to run blender 2.62 (64 bit), the console pops up and then I get a windows error message stating that the program has stopped working. I get no information as to why and nothing I have done to date (driver updates, service pack installations etc) has had any effect in terms of solving the problem.

Does anyone have any ideas?

My laptop is a Toshiba Sattelite Pro C660-2KK running Windows 7 64bit:
