Blowing up a structure...

So I have models and want to animate them blowing up. Anyone know if I can seperate vertices so that I can have shards of buildings seperate from the main building?

You can split it into pieces by selecting them in edit mode and pressing P to Part them. Then Keyframe each seperate object (part).

jms has an explode script that will shatter an object into its component faces and give them each an IPO.
