Blue Room

Been a while since I’ve worked on a render instead of coding for websites, add-ons or working on HDRIs - felt really good to be creative in 3D again :slight_smile:

This was made to demo some of the content of 3D Model Haven (a sister site to HDRI Haven and Texture Haven) that provides high quality community-funded 3D models for free without restrictions.

Most of the models in the render are available on 3D Model Haven already, and I’ll be uploading the rest (along with the scene file) soon.

This was my first real project in 2.8 - the image above was rendered in Cycles, but it was super cool to just turn on “Material Preview” shading mode (which seems to use the Eevee engine) and get an almost identical view in real time, with only minor differences due to lack of global illumination and raytraced shadows.

All the books on the shelves were all designed by participants of our recent design contest - each one is a unique original design of a made up book - in the next week or two I’ll be photoscanning some real books and replacing their covers with these designs, and then publish all of them on 3D Model Haven.

All of the textures used are also CC0, either from Texture Haven or CC0Textures - even the photo this render is based off is CC0 - so the entire scene is CC0 and will (once released) be free to use and dissect for any purpose.
