Bobblehead Ninja Game Char

Hey all,

I wanted to make a simple game character to re-learn how to model, unwrap, texture etc… with Blender (and Gimp). I was originally going to do a much simpler character to test the game engine out with, along the lines of the “Getting a Character into Blender Game Engine” by CGCookie. (http://vimeo.com/11730079)

But, I also really want to get LohnS’s Ninja DVD series, so I had ninjas on the brain and went with a bobblehead, since its simple.

The textures are just the start, not the final product. I also want to learn how to sculpt and use normal maps on this character as well, so I can later do the same with more complex characters.

I’m fairly happy with how it is turning out, since its just a learning project. A buddy of mine said “he even looks Japanese”. I told him it was just because of all the “Ninja Eyeliner” he was wearing. It gives him an authentic ninja look. So Lee, when you do the texturing part of the series with your Ninja, dont forget the Ninja Eyeliner. <Nods>

C&C is definitely welcome!!!

Blend on, and blend well!!!

I got some feedback on #Blenderchat and they pointed out that the shoulder and armpit area looked too far away from the body, so I fixed that. I think it looks better now for sure.

I also just started my first sculpt ever!!! Well, scribbled on some spheres once or twice, but this is my first go at it. Let me know if I’m in the right path.

Cheers!!!

Blend on, and blend well!!!

Looks cool, did you only sculpt the one side of his pants? Also, most small muscular guys have buldging veins in their arms, mabey add some of that.

Thanks r6srider.

Only one side of his pants sculpted so far, wanted to see if it was looking all right so far before I went further. I will definitely add some bicep veins, as well as defining the arm muscles and the rest of him. Cheers!!!
