Theyâre making some very bold claims about its performance, but they still donât have an actual prototype of the GPU. Theyâre demoing on an FPGA clocked at 100mhz and seem to be saying they expect the performance to scale linearly when they move it to a 5nm ASIC? Iâm not a silicon engineer but I donât think thatâs how it works.

what kind of slotted RAM would they use? exchangeable RAM on a graphics card would be nice of course but nothing available today offers the needed bandwidths.

Best case scenario would be a new player who has read all of the various complaints against Nvidia and AMD over the years and manages to address all of them, but getting into the GPU market without already being a known name in computing is going to be very difficult due to the extreme complexity of modern cards.
Even if Bolt does make a card that works, it will all come down to the drivers. The best hardware is all but useless if the software that allows it to do things is riddled with bugs and crashes.

Iâve seen Kickerstarter campaigns with more credible proof of concept, and some of those were offering solutions for time travel and cold fusion.

Not sure what the chances are of success, I expect very low, but Itâs nice to dream of some new competition.
This would obviously be amazing for consumers, but it all seems too good to be true. They are running benchmarks on âsimulated hardwareâ?
The claims heâs making in that video are so grandiose that anything less than the claimed âsimulatedâ performance when/if this card eventually launches could result in a flop.
As others have said, Iâll wait sceptically, and see what develops.
Either way, something like this is needed to smash the Nvidia monopoly.

That would be enough to really increase skepticism unfortunately, since if you do not have the hardware made yet, then the computer is only calculating what you imagine the hardware will do instead of having the actual tech.
Unlike the reports of time machines on Kickstarter (but hey, you can simulate those with computers as well), this one is at least a lot more realistic, but people should ask for a physical prototype first, even if it is very rough around the edges, to show he is dedicated enough to be worth funding.

It feels more like a money pitch than a call to consumers really.
Maybe a little both to add âvalueâ to the company in order to seek additional funding.

It is strange to think, but I now wish they actually have something in development as claimed and that this is not vaporware. A new player in the GPU space that focuses on gamers and creators while shelving any AI ambition would serve as a major shakeup in the hardware market.
For now, though, they should take a look at manufacturing consumer RAM to keep the R&D money flowing until the cards come out (as it will sell like hotcakes if they can price it good).

Iâm not yet convinced this GPU is not a pipe dream.
So far, Iâve seen lots of theory, and theyâre moving on to a basic level of manufacturing⌠but a lot more Concept, than Proof. Still feels like theyâre trying to convince some VC to spend some cash.
If it turns out to be a wundercard - awesome, maybe Iâll buy it. But at the moment, thereâs not much more here than hopes and promises.
compared to nvidia, amd and intel they seem to use much more die space for raytracing and neglect rasterization a bit.
memory bandwidth seems to be quite low.
it probably wonât be available before 2028.
so yes⌠at the moment itâs more of a dream.

It all just seems to make sense. Also with those claims even if it turns out to be half as good, itâs still something 
I donât know. Itâs exciting to see how it goes. Itâs about time to have more than 2 GPU manufacturers in the world.
It seems they took yellow. Itâs a happy color. 
I am hoping it becomes a thing. Upgradable memory⌠GPU that can run Linux on its own⌠Who could have thought?.. Itâs interesting. And itâs supposed to be cheaper and more energy efficient?.. It does sound too good to be true, but who knowsâŚ

Yeah, but he is just saying ALL THE RIGHT THINGS There has to be something to this. It does seem quite legit and very exciting. It all just makes sense. I am quite optimistic about this.
