Well, when I say “just down the road” I mean on a Country-based scale - I’m in Cambridge
Not very far! When I come to Ely I take the train from London. And the distance seems short between the two cities. Even if it is not at all the same scale of size and notoriety!

My drive from my parents home to University in Colchester in the early 80’s long before the bypass existed used to take me over the flood plain at Welney down into Ely, and right past the cathedral. It really is a fantastic “City”.
