I am creating a room with some windows like they are supplied by Archimesh. So every window and door has an empty as it’s parent. To get the holes into the wall for windows and doors I use boolean modifier which usually just does what it should: It creates a hole into the wall - except for one window and I don’t know why.
Please see this screen: you see the door in the middle and the window right from it - they are working. For the window left from the door it is not working. It seems that the space of the empty is added to the mesh of the wall?! This added part stays visible even when I hide the empty or the whole window.
seems like to be connected to this: when I change the normal orientation for the wall (the mesh with the modifiers) the problematic window boolean for the left window works but then the same problem appears for the right window - just pointing to the other direction…
So do the empties have normals? I mean the difference must be in the empties which are used to create the holes by the boolean?! I checked them and they have the same rotation but I am confused how they relate to the normals of the wall mesh?!
okay… I misinterpreted… the objects used in the booelan are not empties, they are actualy meshes where the faces are not rendered… I dive deeper into it, thank you for your feedback!
Try enabling “Hole tolerent”.
Otherwise, try moving your boolean around. Sometimes, as they are very close to an edge, it can create this behavior. You can also try adding surrouding edges around you boolean on the wall mesh
