So, here’s the thing. I never really used sunlight in Blender until very recently. When I look back, I kind of understand why I never really bothered using it.
Out of the box, sunlight is not a very appealing and intuitive light to use. First of all, it exerts exactly the same amount of light to everything no matter where you put it. Second, it doesn’t have any falloff, meaning that the light doesn’t fade as it moves further from the light source. Third, you have to adjust the color and all to make it look like an actual sunlight.
Then, it got me thinking, even though those three things seem like cons for sunlight, but I guess I can turn them around to pros. Because of them, sunlight is actually a perfect light to automate. It moves across the sky at constant rate, and with it, it changes its color accordingly within a certain range.
So, I tinker around with drivers and all, and finally got to make a natural looking sunlight. Here’s a still render of it in the afternoon.
And I got to make it move across the sky and change its color accordingly.
So yeah, that’s it for now. If you’re interested in seeing how I made these, please let me know.
Thanks.
