Brighten videos in VSE?

As the title says, how do i do it?

In the Strip properties (N) you can adjust Color settings. You can add an adjustment layer if you want to change these settings for only part of your clip.

after adding the video in the VSE,press"n" for the properties panel then scroll down to saturation and multiply. You can do some tweaking here. you can also use the color balance (same area) to make some adjustments.

Hope that helped or at least sent yo in the right direction.

You can keyframe your brightness adjust too by going to certain frame adjust and hit I hovering over the lift gamma gain wheels well the black white vertical slider to the right also useful to go into HSV mode and affect V only, keyframing is so you can ramp your brightness control for more subtlety.
Also toggle make float on for better precision with processing VSE isn’t float by default like Nodes are.

There’s a histogram and waveform tool for better visual on your levels where your clipping and crushing.

You may notice depending on build, that the histogram spikes as soon as you apply the lift gamma gain this is a bug and detrimental to your image, the spike gets written to your image file.

Using the adjustment strip or transform is the way to go as you can apply the LGG to that and then fine tune effect by varying the adjustment strip opacity

You can also use masks to control where the luminosity is applied.
Masks can be created either within Blender (3D, UV Image editor) or in another app and then imported to the VSE.

Yellow, I don’t think that I have ever thought of keyframing the HSV levels. Good idea.

I don’t think that you can use mask shapes in the VSE for isolating areas, as the keyer only allows the source strip (keyed image) and the lower strip as inputs. You can use mask shapes (B&W image) as a sort of adjustment layer effect, just change the overlay type (add, subtract etc.).

3point I did not refer to key-based masks, that’s only possible in the compositor afaik.
I was referring to the use of b/w images to simulate alpha data so as to control the luminosity of the image in post. It’s perfectly doable and I do it all the time. The only drawback is that one has to create the masks in another part of the program (be it the 3D or the UV image editor) and then import to the VSE.

Sorry Blendercomp, I see that you mean transform image value with the "mask"image. I did not understand at first as I use the word mask in a different way.
