Bugatti Veyron

I am building a
car bugatti Sorry if spelt rong.
here is what it loks like so far.
MOST of the back is going rong.
could anyone tell me how to seperate meshes from eachother.
thanks.

Ok… This needs a lot of work. Firstly I think we need to clarify a few things.

Firstly, are you using SubSurf? If not, I advise you do so.

Secondly, what references are you using? Any blueprints, pictures…

Do you mean each panel of the car is separate? If so, the generally accepted method is to model each part individually one at a time. Some people add the creases afterwards but I think this would be a lot harder.

Now, a bit of advice…

You see those ugly black lines on the front and back of your model? These are normal issues (weird name, but thats what they’re called) which can often be corrected by selecting the entire mesh in Editmode and Recalculating Normals (Ctrl-N).

Secondly, it would be easier for us to help you if you provided a wireframe. The easiest way to do this is simply take a screenshot of the model in Editmode. This lets us see how you have built your model and we can then offer recommendations on how to improve it.

Finally (for now) if this is your first attempt at a car following a tutorial will help you immensely (choosing a simpler car might help as well, but not entirely necessary, if you’re prepared to spend a lot of time being frustrated). There is a really good one in the car modeling edition of the BlenderArt Magazine, which can be downloaded for free from here.

Good luck.

I dunno… My first car was a Saleen S7, and that was hardly simple… Maybe an Audi S5, A Volkswagen Golf or a Chevrolet Camaro. All quite good looking (in my opinion) but no stupid angles or vents to worry about.

Regarding your mesh, I can see that you have a large number of triangles. Triangles when used in a subsurfed mesh cause distortions unless used with incredible care. So If you can avoid them, do so. It will make your car look a lot smoother looking.

Good luck.

you are right
i have started a new car, the Bugatti Veyron
check it out.

Looking a lot better. Don’t forget to set smooth. Good luck.

one problem
look i want this square not triangle.

Just do a loopcut (Ctrl-R) down the yellow line and merge the two triangles by selecting them and pressing F, and you’ll be left with a quad. If the trick with the F key doesn’t work then try deleting the edge separating them (don’t delete the vertices though!), sellecting the four edges of the missing face and then hit F.

You might want to change the title of this thread to something like “Bugatti Veyron WIP” or “First Car - Bugatti Veyron” to get a bit more advice. You can change the title by editing your first post.

done this now what.

You are brave, a bugatti is one beast I have avoided modelin. But its one of those I’d like to see attempted. I just watched an episode of top gear and guess who tha star was? the veyron offcourse!!
I noticed some hollowness behind the wheels of the car.but I like the wheels.
