Hi so i saw that BG had a tutorial for bullets and i decided to give a go from a different perspective, so i texture painted a black and white scratches texture and multiplied that on a darkish brown color for the material, i also made a spec and NRM map be sure to tell me what you think!
i would really appreciate some critique
There are a couple things I would work on in my opinion. The bullets could use a little more frontal lighting. The texture seems a little repetitive and the casings are typically a little lighter and have a slighter yellow or bronze hue to them then the actual bullet. Try searching for reference images. Overall a good a tempt.
Not knowing what caliber you are going for makes it hard to critique.
They look like a NATO 5.56 round but with a lacquer coat similar to the Russian Brown Bear brand.
As for the model itself: the angled bit that drops to the rim needs to be a bit taller, the case is a bit long from the base to the shoulder, the shoulder looks great but the neck need to be a bit longer. Also the taper on the bullet itself is a bit to short, stretch the bullet some and it will be fine.
Render looks great though. Nice job.
You should rotate them, i can see what seems to be the seam you made to unwrap the bullets.
thanks for the critique guys its helped alot, i did find it kind of funny that everyone seemed to have a problem with the textures because… they are all rotated and the unwrapping worked out very well in my opinion im gonna work more on the model and change up the lighting here is a clay render so you guys can see the texture properly
i think that what you saw repeating was the reflection
oh and the finish is based off of the blender guru tutorial but i made the texture myself
Here is my try in cycles i also added more bullets since im using my workstation opposed to my laptop now
Overall scale is much better.
Here are a few different finishes for you to consider for your materials.
Polymer coated steel case
Brass case
Lacquer coated steel case
i really like them (:
those very helpful thank you, are those real or fake
Quite real.
No, those are 3d renders. lol(had to troll a little)
Now for the render. I think it’s definitely improved from your first render, it terms of lighting and scale. One thing that’s bugging me(its very small) is the bullet tip. Looking at the reference image that Anthony posted, your tips look slightly too pointed. Other than that, everything looks good
thanks guys and great points
