Camera changer slowdown

As you can tell this is my first post here in the forums, though I have been reading many of your posts for three months or more now. I haven’t posted before because I have never had anything to offer, nor have I had a question that hadn’t already been asked and answered. However, the time of posting is at hand (hope this is in the right forum, Python forum seems to be mainly about making scripts, not scripts in action).
I am working on an animation and wanted to automate my camera changes. So naturally I used the built in script for the camera changer. It worked like a charm, except that it slowed my entire blend file down to a crawl whenever I change frames now. It now takes up to ten seconds to change a single frame. I went back to a previous save (much too far back I am afraid) and applied the script again, with the same effect. So here is the question: how do I make the camera changer script stop working so I can get my movement speed back because I can’t work with it this slow, nor do I want to lose 30+ hours of work by reverting to a previous save.
Thanks everyone, Marcion

In the buttons-window, go to the ‘Script’ buttons (second button from left, 1st group of buttons on header). Turn on ‘Enable all scriptlinks’.

I’ll also point out here that the camera-changer script has been made faster for the upcoming release recently.

Aligorith,
You are amazing, thank you. While I had ventured into UV mapping and nodes (with more success), this was my first venture into scripts. You are a life-saver and it worked perfectly. I could even turn it so that it will only work when I render, which is exactly what I wanted. Thanks again. As always, this community fails to disappoint.
