Can I change the number of sides of the faces of a mesh?

Hi!
I recently starting using blender and was wondering if it’s possible to change the number of sides of a mesh from four to five.

It seems feasible enough.
Do you have a visual of this mesh?

You can subdivide one of the edges.

A UV sphere

If you created the sphere with the “add - mesh - sphere” in object mode and did something else, you can not get back the pop up to change it’s rings and segments.

If you want to be able to change them later on you have to use geometry nodes to add the sphere (like Okidoki 's answer but with a Uv Sphere node instead of a cylinder node. This is procedural modeling, you can go back and change it whenever you want.
