I am a traditional real world sculptor and wish to know if and how it is possible to export objects produced in Blender Sculpt to real world production methods, such as 3D printing or stone milling etc ?
Yes…
Just make sure to set Blender to the real-world units of the size you wish to print. Then on export (whatever your CNC will import, usually STL) make sure to set scale to 1.0, don’t click Scene Units…
Check scale as soon as imported to your CNC software and using the default settings for STL export, it should be just fine…You do need to make sure the object is manifold ( would hold water, ie…No Holes in mesh…There is an addon for 3dprint tools…that can check your model for problems and fix most of them, it just needs to be activated…
Here is a head I just worked up in Blender and in Cura for my 3d printer…
Look for BlenderCam for outputting gcode for CNC paths.
Thankyou very much for your reply…very helpful and reasuring.I will carry on learning Blender sculpting now and come back to the export issue at a later date, as now I know it is possible. With all the trouble in the world right now it is nice to know that some people still care about each other…10 out of 10!! Good luck with your projects. Simon
