can I reposition a bone?

I am using 2.42, which doesn’t follow most of the tutorials – no parenting the armature, etc.

I have a bone with the same name as a vertex group, so when I pose the bone the mesh deforms properly (more or less!). However, I want to reposition the bone without the mesh following it, then allow deformation from there. It sounds simple, but my pea-brain can’t figure it out. Thanx!

OK – I can move the bone in object mode without deforming? That kinda makes sense.

You move the bone in Edit-Mode.

For future reference, I move bones, add bones and delete bones all the time in my character armature. No problems.

Just put your armature in rest position first then go to edit mode and have fun :slight_smile:
