Cannot find texture inside .blend file

Hi,

First of all, I’m a newbie at Blender, so bare with me. I downloaded a CC-BY .blend file from BlendSwap and I’m trying to modify it. More especifically, I’d like to extract the texture of the character eyes to an image file…

However, when I go to the scene “eyes method 2”, select the eyes, and go to the texture properties, there’s nothing there. When I unpack the blend file, this texture also isn’t exported. What am I missing, and how can I extract this texture to a file?

The eyes are not made with image textures, they use vertex paint. You can use Render / Bake to bake the vertex colours to an image texture
