Canon camera

3D model of the Canon EOS R5 camera
in the early days of my journey as a 3D artist after modelling several different props and products I decided I needed a challenge and after searching for a while I thought that a camera might be the best subject due to it’s surface complexity and the different tasks I have to face to take a realistic render of it.
for the modelling part I used blender as my main software, it was done by mostly poly modelling most parts by hand, however I did use subsurface and some non destructive and hard surface techniques as well.
the anti slip leather like grip texture was done using substance designer, basically trying to create a Musgrave texture and adjusting it to match the references.
years after looking back at it, I’m not quite satisfied with the geometry and I did miss a few details however I think it’s actually not that bad as an early work.
still looking forward to improve…

it’s a simple texture however it takes a lots of tweaking to get it right.

I like this one, it’s different from the typical product shots with the red lighting. Superb modeling. Very well done all around.
