Hi forum.
I’m trying to select only one face on my mesh, but it’s selecting 2 instead of one. I have cleaned up the loose geometry also merged vertices. So what am I doing wrong?
Hi forum.

Could you be more specific about what you are doing to select your face? In the screenshot you provided, you are in vertex select mode. If you want to select just one of those faces, deselect everything by double tapping the “a” key and select the four vertices that comprise the face you want to select.
You can also change selection modes while in Edit mode by pressing 1, 2, or 3 on your top number row keys. If you press 3, you enter Face select mode, and that will let you choose a specific face.
If you are doing something else to select faces, please let us know.
Delete the face and see if there is another or missing face.
My recommendation is to select all the vertex points in the region.
hit ALT M and choose Merge by Distance
in the lower left corner you’ll be able to gradually increase the distance and get rid of unnecessary vertex points. Good luck!
you may have one face and the middle edge doesn’t separate 2 faces but only goes from bottom vertex to top vertex, you must have selected them and made a F (fill) instead of a J (join). Join would have separated the 2 parts of the face. So try to delete this central edge?
yes this was the answer, I had incorrectly made a fill… I deleted then joined them.
Thank you!
Moonboots from BlenderStackExhange?
yes it’s me
New post coming up, maybe I get an answer here before going to BSE!
