Car WIP (Yafray renders on pg 2)

 What?

Spin - He is working on a different car. It starts halfway down the page.

It doesn’t have to be HDR to reflect. You can use a .jpg if you only want reflection… HDRI is for lighting as well, and he already has lights.

yeah, but i mentioned to delete the lights when workin’ with hdr, so…
sure, you can also use an image as angular map, comes out fine, too…and with lights.
sorry, if it sounds harsh…but the recent render looks crappy with this kind of light setup and the missing materials
you could also move the camera a little lower

minutes? hours?
a vert count by under 1000 is very near low poly I would say. just for comparism, my audi a3 project has 290000 verts <> that’s too high :o:D

hey katsuro, looks definetly better then your first attempt. Mainly you need to work on your topology some more. Always remeber to use as few vertices as possible when using subsuf and to also always use quads over triangle faces. Oh, and I’d like to see a wire as well.

chop_suey, 290,000 verts? Is that subsurfed or unsubsurfed? If you have 290,000 verts in a non subsurfed car, well thats a little extreme. My BMW has 4,000(exactly 4,000) verts unsubsurfed, and about 65,000 when subsurf is on.

well it’s 84500 verts unsubsurfed…but mirrored

back to topic

Hey everybody, thanks for replys.

Sorry about the bad lighting, although I have been using blender for over a year now, I havnt really worked indepth with it, this is probibly the farthest I’v ever taken a project. Oh, and the render time, was in minutes.
On the update: I know that the Mirrors dont look too wonderful as of now, nor the back. I’m working on thoes (didn’t have much time to work lastnight, had a small lan). Im also aware that the lighting setup isn’t the best. I’l look for hints and tips after this post.

Another update:
The glass was getting on my nerves when tring to fix the weirdness, so I took it out. I also added headlights. Dont know if i should keep them or kill them. What you guys think?

Hello again
Another update, as is normal for me, I didn’t do much to it. Just added indicators, added the rear wheelwell, and reworked the tires a bit. Let me know what you guys think

EDIT:
Just as a test I did a “good” (for me at least) render of it using yafray, here it is

Well, this is what I have so far, thinking of just ending the project here. Looks good enough to me.
(added taillights[Indicators, reverse lights, and break lights] and glass)
6 minute render time… I miss my 1:30 render times…

C&C always welcome, although, not much will be done to this model (if any), most will go to later projects.

Katsuro

Looks good. The only 2 problems I see really are the lack of a grill on the front and the warped reflection on the windsheild. Also the lighting could be a little brighter. Good work.

Wow… compleatly forgot to put that in. Thanks

Katsuro

Here it is… Grill added and lighting brightend, too bright for my tastes.

The reflection should be warped because the wind sheild is not flat. it’s not a mistake, it’s a needed part of realism.

To me the car looks junky, like something an old lady would drive… It’s not bad, because most cars look like that to me, maybe you can make a driver (a little old lady, perhaps) and make a short animation… Might take a while to do, but it will be cool when it’s done.

If the lighting is too bright for your taste, lower it. I think it looks fine with lower lighting. It’s your car.

Heh… it is a ford escort (although I do drive one) But I think I’m done wiht this modle, but its not going into the Finnished Projects, as it was my first car, well, the farthest I’v gone on a car… I might do more with the next one.
