Carcassonne Medieval city

Hi all

After spending 2 days in unity3D at scripting an ambiant random sound generator for the application, i came back to blender for modeling and texturing…

New post, new part of the medieval city !

The wall between the Saint-Louis barbican and the Peyre tower:

This later picture is a rig of old photos ( around 1850 ) i used to show what this wall really looked like and for counting hoarding holes and arrowslits…

Next part will be the modeling of the Trauquet tower in inner wall…

Hope you like it !
Happy blending !

Hi all

Some time since i posted news here…
I added a tower and a special wall to the whole medieval city scene…

The tower is called the Trauquet tower. In French Occitan, ‘trauquet’ means ‘little hole’. In the old days, there was a small passage in the inner wall that led to the foot of the Peyre tower ( on the outer city wall ) through a staircase and narrow tunnels. The Trauquet tower was the closer one to this passage and logically took its name.
Here are some renders

The later view is a unity3D snapshot

The second part is the wall owning the Trauquet itself… As usual with parasitic houses.
Some views:

The real thing around year 1850

A peeled view of the whole staircase and subterranean passage.

Hope you like it !!!

New tower, new post

The Peyre tower.
sat on the outer wall-ring of the medieval city, this strong tower is one of the strongest for the East defence.

in 1850, its use was anything but defense. I guess it was used for drying-up fabrics that were made by numerouse citizens at that time…

Hope you like it !

Hi all !!!

Lot of time for debugging and reorganizing the unity3D app, so that the user can use time machines and travel to 1850 for discovering the ruined medieval city.
You can now visit and enter all the ruins i posted here since May 2022 with your own eyes
I also struggled at publishing the android app on google play store ( as usual ) but now all is online. I now have to update all social medias and also update my website

Before all this, i made a tower that i want to share with you here. The Saint-Laurent tower, located on the inner citywall:

Hope you like it !

Happy blending !

Hi all

I can’t wait to post this… The later version of my app, on www.kleioscope.fr/ENcarcassonne.html !!!

With it you can freely visit the whole medieval city ( including the part that costs you 11€ in real life ! ) !
But if you’re bored with the nowadays city, you can also jump back in time and discover the medieval city, the ruined medieval city… That noone can visit nowadays !!!

All is free !!! Windows, linux, macOS… Only android version for your phone asks you for a fee ( google makes billions $ on apps, no doubt many will be happy to pay 2,5$ for discovering a ‘unique-in-the-world’ virtual place  )

I really hope you’ll enjoy the visit and the place

Here are some few screenshots:

And a short just to show the ‘time-leap’ sequence

Please enjoy and share !!!

And happy blending !

hi all

Back there with a new part of the medieval city !
This is a big part as historical researches ( in photos and text ) were quite long because of lack of infos…

It is a 82m long citywall of the Carcassonne’s outer wall ring, with numerous parasitic houses.
Here are some renders of the thing

And here is a photo-mounting of 1850ish photos to show the whole wall:

Hope you like it !
Next part is another wall of the inner city wall-ring…

Hi Blender Artists !

A new part of the medieval city… It is another wall with parasitic houses.
This place is one of the most famous of the medieval city as it was the picture on lots of postcards more than 100 years ago.
Here are some renders of the wall:

And photos from the past…

Next part is the Balthazar tower

Hope you like it !!!

Very nice! I see why that section was a favourite point for postcards in the past; it’s a very interesting view.

Hi all

Am here for introducing the later tower… The Balthazar tower

This tower was heavily ruined in the past. It was intended to command the big high tower of La Vade, on the outer citywall…
Strangely, the Balthazar tower has a potern that leads to the high outer bailey ah a height of 4 meters…

Here are some renders and a photo dated at about 1850…

Also i’d like to say that i built a new version of my app: 28th oct 2023
you can get the app ( win, lin, macOS and android ) on my website for free ( except android ) and install it so that you can freely visit the whole medieval city including the castle. The real-life pass costs 11€ and you cannot visit all accessible places in the simulation :stuck_out_tongue:
I hop you try and like it !
And please gimme a word on your opinion for the app

Happy blending !

Hi all

Here i come back with some new stuff for the medieval city…
If i were this long, it’s because i also developped a small quest engine in unity3D, so that the user experience in my app is enhanced. I also drawn the biggest tower of the outer citywall: The Vade tower. This part took me much time as i had erroneous blueprints and had to make compromises between text description and videos…
Well after all this struggling for drawing something close to reality, here are the pics:

I hope you like it

Next part is the wall on the inner city wall-ring between the Plô and Balthazar towers

Get my free app on https://www.kleioscope.fr/ENcarcassonne.html and feel free to gimme your opinion

See you soon and happy blending !
