“Carmilla” is inspired by the novel of the same name by Le Fanu (1872).
After reading it, I felt inspired to model a scene that reflected the atmospheric tone I experienced in the book.
It looks a bit dark. I know it’s a night scene, so it should be, and I think that that is a common struggle with capturing the look of night scenes accurately. The way our eyes adjust to the dark naturally make things look clearer in a way that is hard to reproduce. Maybe increasing the light intensity from the windows could help.
I also think that the candles and lights on either side of Carmilla are a bit distracting. Perhaps reducing the intensity of those and increasing the intensity of the light she is holding could help draw attention to her better.
