@ Clock, thanks. Good news is I got me some one day tickets in the very same box, so all is not lost yet except maybe the cricket on the day. I plan on getting there early, you know before it all starts, just in case SA bat 1st.
@ eagle eye minoribus, yup did notice it and was going to leave it until you mentioned it, now itâs bugging me a bit. :o
Had to go hunting for this thread, this section of the forum does have a big interest.
Have not had much time to be doing much lately as I have been snowed under at work.
Did a real quick texture paint yesterday and messed around a bit with the cloth sim, all very stiff at the moment, but I like what I have going with the texture of the cloth. See what you think.
I would agree that the reference has smaller jawbones and I would add the the width of the lips is smaller in the reference.
What makes it difficult is the flat lighting in the reference shot. Makes it hard to see the âgeometryâ in the nose/eye region of the reference. But seeing these two side by side I think that one noticeable difference is the transition from the nose to the cheek. In your model this transition is quite angular. But usually it is softer like in your reference.
I was searching for the right terminology for this area, but havenât found anything so far. Because of that I must use an image to demonstrate what I mean.
Having a look a bit later I see what you see and will work on it, I think though that I will leave the mouth a little bigger. I puffed out the area around the nose a little.
Still a lot of work to do on the skin, but getting better?

Itâs definitely continuing to progress very nicely. Are you using mirroring? Iâm noticing a crease running up her chest to her neck⌠could this be due to a clipping issue?
The skin is already starting to look nice, even though you mention work is still to be done.
@ Harley, sorry this has taken so long to reply, but just been crazy at work and have not touched this for a long while now. The crease that you were seeing was due to the UV map not being complete in those areas and the Bump Map pick this up, did a bit of correction on it. Need to get stuck in to the maps properly as soon as I have a gap. Dem eyes also need work as they are looking a bit like dolls eyes, maybe I will send you the file for some help?
@ TheVoid75, thanks man for comments and looking in, sorry so long for reply.
Trying to go for some Rembrandt lighting here, not sure if I am getting it right or not?

Hi, Shaun, nice to see you at it again after a break and yes, you got it right - mainly, Iâd say. The important triangle is there and it is looking nice.
I tried to set up a Rembrandt lighting myself some time ago and I know that it is a bit tricky to position the light sources. What I would recommend - and why I said âmainlyâ - is to remove the rim light at the right side. It is a bit harsh and distracting. Instead of that I would have tested a very subtle fill light from the right to make the shadows a bit softer. Because of the hard shadows such a lighting is mostly used for portraying men, but I must admit that it looks nice. I wonder how she would look with a butterfly lighting setup?
As always take my opinion with a grain of salt. You are the artists
Damn looking good. I do agree with minoribus on a little more fill for a female. And, isnât a rim light usually on their hair. Man the eyes are amazing in my opinion with catch lights. âHeâs back!â : )
@minoribus. removed the rim light and had a little bit of time to work on the eyes today, really want to get these correct as they have been a major failing in any of the other work that I have done. Tried a bit of a fill light and removed the rim light, but have not tried out the butterfly lighting yet, but will as soon as I have a gap. I always take your opinion as I would antibiotics minoribus.
@Ghost. Thanks for looking in here. I have not had too much time as you know to be fiddling with Blender as you know, but saw that PM and just loved the gal you have on the wall there.
I have been thinking what to do with her. An idea was to maybe turn her into a Muslim lady with a fancy head covering and gold jewelry. I am otherwize open to ideas.
See what you guys think about the eyes. I think they are looking better than anything I have done before, but there is still something. WHAT I do not know???
Damn her eyes were so mesmerizing I didnât even notice she didnât have ears! While not on a lake in Canada every day is one long coffee break here. Speed if I had know this I might have taken better care of myself and my money. Then again probably not. : ) Hang in there is the thought for the day.
Besides you couldnât go a year without Blender. Oh sure a 28 day rehab and a support group might be a start but an entire year with no Blender. After all you are still in the denial stage now.
@ Ghost, you making me jealous, glad however you thinking of me slaving away. I will be organized on that lake, Blender a laptop and a generator after the fishing, just need that stuffing lotto you and I were speaking about a while ago.
Been tweaking and tweaking as we all do on these models of ours, nearly happy with where I am now, so decided to bring her into the sunlight.
Wonderful work, Shaun. I have the feeling that her left eyeball could be a bit more rotated to the left. And I agree with Harleynut on the ears. That may be due to a short lens which brings the middle part of the face more to the front, though.
And I know by heart, what you mean with âtweaking and tweakingâ
Edit:
I had a second look at your reference in #25. And I revoke everything I said, because in these points itâs all like in your reference. Instead of that I would say the mouth and chin could be a bit more narrow and the bridge of the nose a bit more flat.:o
Harleynut and minoribus have a point with the ears. I was awed by the lighting evidently. And, minoribus brings up another point. The daughter has a 90mm lens for headshots. Hell I understand some photographers use a 120mms. From the tip of the nose to the ears there can be a lot of distortion hence their choice of lenses. Actually from the tip of the nose to the eyes.
The lotto thing would be appreciated on this side of the pond also. Damn would it ever. Iâd show up on the forum shitfaced everyday until the moderators threw me off.
@ Harley, thanks. Did a bit of work on the ears to get them closer to the ref, they are going to be covered so not going to spend a huge amount of time on them.
@ minoribus, tried to move the eye a bit and made the jaw a bit more narrow, let your eagle eyes have a look and let me know if it should be a bit more.
@ Ghost, I would love to see you shitfaced on the forum lambasting all and sundry, here is to you getting the right numbers this week.
