Wow, incredible work yoRoq! I love seeing giant earthmoving equipment (heck, I even think the smaller vehicles are cool), and you’ve done a great job on this one! I also love the lighting and the environment you’ve placed it in. Very cool.
How do you accomplish your fantastic texturing work? Is it mostly handpainted with simple brushes, or do you use images more and then just mask it off? Or is it another process entirely?

Here’s a sample of my mask. I handpainted it using simple rounded brush and some custom brush i made. It only took me 5 to10 mins to make each mask, as you can see its very messy .I wont post my node setup because its very basic and had nothing special on it. I also used a lot of vertex painting for masking purposes especially on the wheels.

awesome!! love the textures… only one small suggestion. Maybe you could add a more uneven spec map… to accentuate the dings and scratches of a heavy machine.
Thanks for your suggestion. BTW I actually started this project to learn more unwrapping and texturing. There are still a LOT to learn. I’m really surprise to know that someone will praise my texturing.
To the gallery it should go… I do still feel that your scene needed something to give a better indication of just how large this monster of a truck is. In your WIP you had a reference photo of a man standing next to it… .that really gave me, as a viewer, a sense of just how massive this vehicle is.
But an outstanding job, none the less, in all areas.
Thank you for your answer! The image of the stencil is very helpful to me, as I’m currently texturing a similar sort of object. I would have never guessed that this was your first project after having learned unwrapping and texturing!
