Nakoya - An impala-horned woman who fled from persecution in a faraway place, eventually finding her ancestors’ homeland and becoming a nomadic cattle herder.
Somewhere outside the capital city, she lives among the clan with her husband and their children who help tend to their sacred cattle. She cherishes the animals like family, adorning them with colorful ornaments and giving each of them their own name, but stands ready with her rifle for any predator or person who might threaten them.
- Blockout and basic modeling done in Blender, such as the gun, beads, and curve hair. Sculpting done in Zbrush. Textures done in Substance Painter with some extra work done in Blender. Posed and rendered in Blender Eevee.
Inspirations:
- Primarily Ndebele and Xhosa for the general clothing aesthetic and colors. Samburu/Maasai for some beadwork, and possibly Kikuyu for the ear rings but I’m not totally sure
- Rwandan Inyambo cattle for the cow’s ornaments
- Nguni cow
- Impala horns
