Caustics, 3.1

Hi Everyone,

I would like to render pendant lights made of glass. and I would like to render the cautics. I understood that blender 3.1 was able to render caustics, but I can’t find it. How can I able it?

Thanks,

3.2, not 3.1

Perfect, found it, thanks

Just be aware - current MNEE caustics only supports shadow caustics at the moment.

Any caustics that fall outside the shadow region (i.e. refractive caustics like you get off crystal pendants) are not currently supported.

Okay, what would you recommend to do caustics in blender? I’ve seen that luxcore is a solution but it doesn’t seems to take advantage of gpu for raytracing.

I normaly use keyshot, caustics are great but i don’t really like the UI and realised blender is better and more reactive for things which are non caustic related

Luxcore does use the gpu. Even then, it’s still slower than Cycles in most scenes, so I would use it mostly for still images. To my knowledge, Luxcore may be the best free solution for caustics in Blender.
