Hey everyone! I am Montassar and I’m excited to showcase my latest environment created in Unreal Engine 5.4. As usual, I leveraged Lumen and Nanite, focusing heavily on HDRI lighting and material creation. This project is inspired by Greco-Roman architecture, aiming to deliver a AAA-quality environment with a modular workflow.
I used Blender for modeling, and then Substance Designer and Painter to create the materials, before assembling everything in Unreal. The scene consists of 20 modular pieces and 4 base materials. Using Unreal’s powerful material system, I was able to achieve dirt and edge highlighting variations.

Very good looking! I hated UE3 lighting in games, UE4 looked already good and UE5 can really shine.
However, as an aspiring game dev, I’ve heard a lot of issues concerning fluid framerate in more open world scenarios when relying heavily on nanite and lumen.
Out of curiosity, how’s FPS on average in a scene as yours? What’s your PC specs?
Hey, thank you for your feedback. I had the same issue back in Unreal 5.0 and 5.1 with Lumen and Nanite, but now from 5.2 some bugs and issues have been fixed. Nowadays, any scene needs more attention to meshes and lighting but as for the FPS in my scene is always stable, never goes under 60. On the other hand, I have quite a good laptop with i9 13th generation, RTX 4090, and 64 GB of ram.
