Hi everyone,
This isn’t my first time working with CG-Trader’s Kodama verification tool. Earlier this year (first quarter of 2025), I used it successfully and got a 100% PBR score on my models, as shown below.
Recently, however, I ran into a new issue. While verifying a PBR model, I got errors stating that:
- Metalness and Roughness should be grayscale
- Basecolor and Normal should be truecolor
The strange part is that I had already set them correctly (grayscale for roughness/metalness, truecolor for basecolor/normal).
Previously (last year), the only warnings I ever got were for metalness and roughness, and fixing them in GIMP by changing the color profile solved it.
This gave me 100% verification. But now, even after trying the same method in GIMP (and even experimenting with Krita), I still get errors for all four textures, not just the grayscale ones.
I even re-opened some of my older projects that Kodama had already verified at 100% last year. Running them again now gives the same “incorrect color mode” errors for basecolor, roughness, metalness, and normal.
Has something changed in how Kodama verifies texture color profiles? Or is there a new required workflow for grayscale/truecolor settings? If anyone has run into this and found a solution, I’d really appreciate your guidance.
Thanks in advance!
