Challenge #1052 "Welcome to the Uncanny Valley" (18/08/23) Entries CLOSED

Valley of shadows.

I went with the idea that if something looks vaguely human then most will see it as possibly human even if it is just a pile of rock and shadow.

Open entry as the terrain is from a downloaded displacement map.

There is something creepy about them, for sure. Especially when the layers of paint and varnish start to peel off. No wonder, people tend to come up with movie scenes like this:
charlie and the chocolate factory

My two-year-old son happened to see this. He said, “Baby is sleeping”. Not sure how you wanna take that. Either you can congratulate yourself that it looks like a baby, or you can think my son is stupid for thinking that a baby can sleep with his/her eyes open. And no body.

Here’s a non-compete entry (because it was way too easy…)
First thing I could think of by word association when I read the topic.

For anyone who remembers the commercials… Or were they too local?
In the Valley of the Jolly - Ho Ho Ho - Green Giant! Frozen, not canned.

Funny enough, I think this is one of your more realistic portraits. So I didn’t vote for yours because it doesn’t look creepy. I think if everyone posted one of their old entries this could have been quite the competition.
