“There are two main goals for these contests: Fun and Glory.
Fun: You get only 4 days to create a cool image, based on the theme for the week.
Glory: After 2 days of voting, a winner is declared. The winner picks the theme for next week and will be featured in the Feature Row.”
usually I would bring in individual leaves, but as this was going to have a paint effect I brought in a photo of a cheese plant - I had to create the alpha channel externally from blender - but the shader did some of the work to refine the alpha.
one inside, I added more detail to the plane and manually raised lowered parts where the leaves would naturally go. (1st pic)
the plane was duplicated, flipped and also further edited. (2nd pic)
The shader was tweaked until the light was correct and shaows and leaves looked ‘right’ (pic 3)
It was a good challenge for me to produce different foliage and particle systems after a long time ^^ Also tried out a new technique for the leaves on the tree with geonodes. And tried myself again with a good rope material ^^
Blender 5.1 cycles pure entry. Focused on shapes and colors. The keyboard is on its own collection, spent a few hours on it today, added keys until it looked keyboard like enough.
I created a kind of “procedural random book generator” for this image – as a material/texture that I’d like to share. Depending on the texture, colors, and settings, it can look vintage, stylized, modern, etc.
