After 2 days of voting, a winner is declared: The voting will close on: Wed, Jan 15, 2020 11:00 PM.
The winner picks the theme for next week.

If the winner doesn’t supply a theme before Thursday 22:30 GMT, the organizer will select the theme. In this case, the winner’s theme will be used the next time we are lacking a theme on Thursday 22:30 GMT.

Having selected the theme, the winner will not be eligible to enter that week. They may however still submit an image, but it won’t be included in the voting.

Great entries, everyone! It was really tough to choose!

My favorites were RayVelcoro, Parclite, and Photox! I loved your lighting and composition!

And if I could choose a fourth it would have been Helge for the same reason! :joy:

Here is another version of mine with a better view and higher samples. Unfortunately it didn’t finish rendering in time with just minutes to go before the deadline.

I feel you. Not nice when it happens. But competiting or not it looks great

Even with the lower samples, I think your entry was very nice, and both camera angles work!

If you don’t mind giving up some of the fancy bounced lighting you could always give Eevee a shot! It’s a little more micro-management in terms of lighting, but you can see your result right away and you can get full resolution renders in 8 seconds! I personally like the trade-offs

And to add to that the indirect lighting probe works wonders for even having indirect lighting in eevee! Sure not as detailed as cycles (unless you increase the resolution of the probe but then it’ll take more time) but ore often than not te difference is barely visible.

Thanks. Actually I was having some trouble with Eevee and the trophy model. For some reason it wasn’t generating a smooth reflection even though the model had smooth shading across all the faces. DIdn’t have time to investigate and just switched to cycles. Example below. If you look at the curve going up the cup you’ll see how it looks like hard flat edges instead of being smooth.

That is very odd! I love how it looks aside from that. My first guess would be to throw a weighted normals modifier on top of it and check “auto smooth” under vertex data, as well as remove doubles.

And… the winner of Weekend Challenge 864 with votes from 50% of the voters is… Justin712!
Here’s to all the great participators…

Aw, thank you very much, everyone, I really appreciate it!
@parclite @ramzes.design I was really expecting either of your entries to overtake mine at any time, they’re very well done! I’m looking forward to seeing what you both do in the next one too!

Same for the rest of you, great art all around! Thanks again!
