Many years before “Madame Pele ‘lately decided to become a little more forceful’” at her temple of Kiluea, I went for a nighttime tour at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park where you could actually walk upon a surface where red-hot lava was flowing just underneath. (They cautioned you to move away if your shoes began smoking …) 
(P.S.: You can be very sure that I was not about to be so stupid …)
This is a truly outstanding digital rendering of what I saw that night. A simultaneous juxtaposition of “liquid fire” and “solid(?) rock,” all at the same place. (I’m trying my best to describe it. Yes, you had to be there …)
