Lost on the horizon
Pure, cycles, 256 samples, oi denoised, all made in blender except the texture for the labeling, used the tutorial above for the black hole, started to lazy and to the finish cant beat the bevel issues, but it looks quit good. Great movie still today, btw.
Unfortunately, Maximillian did, but he fell trough the black hole too and was years later catched up by a research station at a lagrange point between an unknown planet and the other side of the black hole. They had astonishing good data recovery skills, so in the end B.O.B was still fine.

been at work and finished school not to long ago getting ready to go back to collage again.

haven’t messed with blender much accept for prototyping sooo what’s good and new with blender.
A Meeting of Horizons
Based on real measurements for the orbit of Mimas and the size of Saturn.
Non-competing, pure - Blender with a colour tweak in IrfanView.
Non-competing, just a quick one day work since I almost forgot about the deadline.
Cycles render, GIMP for post-pro. Using starship model from past contest, everything else are new. Rocks made with geometry nodes (using adaptive subdiv at first but then was out of memory during render), ground and rock textures from texture sites, others are procedural.
Where is B.O.B. ?? Maximillian didn’t get him did he?
