I was wondering if i could get my username changed from LightBulb to BlenderMagician. i’m starting up a blog and it would make more sense as BlenderMagician. already checked the availability and it says its available.

But I LIKED Lightbulb! I remember when I first came here. That was a name that stuck out. It inspired me, gave me hope for mankind and all of his creative abilities. I said to myself, “Wilfred, if only there is a Blenderhead who has a handle as cool as Lightbulb, then I won’t feel so bad that I came up with such a terribly uncreative BlenderArtists handle as this one.” And that gave me the strength to carry on. As Shakespeare said, “What’s in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” That’s when I decided to focus on the work itself, and in coming up with snazzy quotes and interesting, though sometimes off-putting, text responses.
But now that the Lightbulb is gone I feel…
I don’t know. The dream is over. I was the Dreamer. But now the dream is done. I was the Walrus but now I’m John.

In a word, no. The advantage of using this method is that we have a [relatively] public record of who changed names. This helps prevent confusion. After all, besides the avatar image, the only thing we have on this forum as a noticeable identifier is our name. Let’s not have users change names like most people change shirts.

P.s. wait… were you honest about liking LightBulb better than BlenderMagician?
Well, it’s too late now. I think that namechanges are probably irreversible. Sort of like getting a sex change. It might be nice to be a girl. But once you’ve done it, and paid all that money, and realize that women are even more mean when you’re a chick, it becomes… I don’t know. Kinda sad.
At any rate, you might like life as a BlenderMagician…
And besides, I’m considering becoming the new LightBulb. There’s already several pages of great Cycles renders of lightbulbs in Cycles Test. I’d be instantly famous. I could just walk in and go: “Well, you guys might have thought I was just a big dork when I had that old name. But now, you’ve all been rendering lovely images of lightbulbs in celebration of my prophesied arrival. And now here I am! Let the bright and golden age of the LightBulb commence! Let there be light!”
It will be glorious.
+1. I’ve been wanting to change my username to something more meaningful too. When I made my account, i just typed random letters and numbers. You’ll still be able to identify me bu my Profile pic anyway.
