Fair enough, i worded that badly. what i actually meant was: when you need multiple character variations (different outfits, body types, etc.) that all need to work with the same rig, is that still a pain to do manually? or is the bigger bottleneck just getting a clean base mesh with good topology from a concept in the first place?
Depends on your rig. With Auto Rig Pro, which is what I use, you can Export and Import all the rig settings but not override the bone rest locations, which makes it take seconds to apply the same rig to many characters.
Once you have a base mesh, making outfits that fit consistently isn’t a problem, you just use your base mesh as a mannequin and build the outfits on top of that basemesh.
