Yup, I was bored, so I practiced some with environment lighting in Cycles and my chess board model.

I think those are good shaders.

HI, good work.
2 remarks:

  • the right rook must be on a white case (and the queen on its color, here the queen and king position are inverted),
  • perhaps could be better if the chessboard is on a darker table
