Now, I would like to see your settings for reflexion and also I would like you to tell me if you have an environment that would reflect in your chrome. Both are essential.
You need an environment for the reflections, now you have a world full of white. The turoial seemed to use HDRI probes, so google that and you should find some free ones.
Well from my exprance chrome is pritty easy to get the hang of stanless steel is the one that always gives me greef the real easy way to make chrome is to just set your meterial to all black then crank up your ray mirror then like hippie said its vary important to have something to reflect this is just my 2 cents.
