Built on the Cinelli Vigorelli Steel, a frame developed for the intensity of fixed gear criteriums. First introduced in 2017 and closely associated with the Red Hook Crit scene through the Cinelli Chrome team. Shown here in the 2019 Dark Night paintwork.

There is one really obvious thing: The chain. It’s too clean and uniform and it misses some sag. Otherwise the images are damn close to photos.

No sag when it’s a single speed. The chain is under tension.

How did you do the chain so that the individual links aren’t curving or warped?

If the tension is so high that there is absolutely no sag as in the picture, the chain would wear out very quick and the sag would be visible.
100% straight chains are non existent in the real world.

In short, manually.
I created an empty in the axis of each link. Then I created step-by-step Parents, and each subsequent link was bound to the previous one.
Then I moved the 3D cursor in the center of the empty and rotated relative to the 3D cursor, each time bending the link by a certain pre-calculated angle (since I know the step of the links and their number). This way, I created bends on the gears. The rear and front, and everything in between is just a straight line.

Although the commenter @CAE-ID CAE-ID above is right. There should be sag, because without sag, there is excess friction. And I do have sag. Only at the bottom, then it’s usually always at the bottom, apparently not enough.

I think the perfectly straight chain at the top is more noticeable because it is perfectly horizontal too. We perceive our surroundings subconsciously, and something that is perfectly horizontal and flat immediately catches our eye because it is not “natural.”
Perhaps the same sag as currently seen at the bottom of the chain would already fix everything.

No, it’s just my imagination.
My goal is to make a lot of popular and iconic components, as well as frames, and then assemble different builds from them.

The Vigorelli frame was just on my list because it’s so cool and special (the only steel frame in the Vigorelli series).

So I just make a frame and load it with components. Then I change the paint job or size. Then I make another frame, and so on.

Nice bike! If there is even 0000000.1% slack in the chain then that chain is bouncing off the second you ride over a little pebble. 100000% straight chain is the only way to to keep that sucker from falling off wear and tear be dammed.
