So I just got a new Laptop(y510p) running windows 8.1. Previous laptop had separate mouse buttons this one is a click pad and aside from just getting used to NOT panning while doing other things I have found that no matter what user settings I have tried blender will not let me use the Alt RMB edge loop select, OR select in fact ANY selection in edit mode at all. Either I’m doing something wrong or there is some serious compatibility issue with this track pad. My previous laptop was a breeze to use with blender, this one has been literally impossible to use.
I have user Preferences set up to emulate 3button mouse and have saved it but I honestly don’t know what to do to fix this. Never had this problem in vista.
I am also using Blender 2.7 my previous version was 2.69 and I had no issues with it. Don’t know if any of you can tell me what I’m doing wrong or what setting I have over looked but I’d really like to get back to using blender as I got this computer for almost exclusively, 3d modeling work.
To add to the mystery, after a frustrating period trying to select things in blender I found that it WILL randomly select things if I mash the click pad enough times lol. But I have not been able to figure out how to do the basic selecting with this thing. It appears that to select things I need to press down both Left and right buttons while also selecting cntrl, shift, and alt(thats quite the finger acrobatics let me tell you) but then in the very next moment the click pad will not do anything. I’m beginning to think That the problem is with the clickpad and not blender as randomly everything works as it should for a few clicks but then nothing, or the very weird triple key RMB select.
Is there any way to customize what buttons do the selecting(like could I change the RMB to single or double tap to select instead?) I’m desperate to get this thing to work, but I’m not even sure where I would find that in user preferences or if it’s even possible to change it that much.
